Fuelling Creativity: Currently reading and listening to...

As an artist, creativity is not just a skill but a way of life. It's something that needs constant nurturing, even in the midst of busy schedules and the demands of motherhood. Being a mum means finding creative ways to keep my artistic spirit alive, and one of my secret weapons? Audiobooks and podcasts!

With a little one who only naps in the car, I've discovered the perfect opportunity to indulge in the world of literature and creativity while on the go. Audiobooks and podcasts have become my trusted companions during those precious moments when my baby drifts off to sleep, and the car becomes my sanctuary for uninterrupted creative exploration.

Currently, I'm diving into the pages of "The House That Joy Built" by Holly Ringland and "The Creative Act" by Rick Rubin. Each of these books offers a unique perspective on creativity, providing insights and inspiration that fuel my artistic endeavours. "The House That Joy Built" is a delightful journey into the power of joy and its transformative effects on our lives, while "The Creative Act" delves deep into the process of creation itself, unravelling the mysteries behind the artistic impulse.

But it's not just books that feed my creative soul. Podcasts have also become a source of inspiration and insight. From conversations with fellow creatives to discussions on art history and techniques, these podcasts offer a wealth of knowledge and ideas that keep my creative mind ticking along. My favourite one to listen to is "Fail like an Artist", a podcast by amazing artists Phoebe Gander and Julie Battisti, which explores the transformative power of failure in the creative process, highlighting how setbacks can lead to innovation and growth in artistic endeavours. I can totally relate to some of the fails discussed in the podcast, and it helps me remember that imperfection is part of the art!

Listening to audiobooks and podcasts has become more than just a pastime for me—it's a lifeline to creativity in the midst of motherhood. It's a way for me to stay connected to my passion for art and continue to grow and evolve as an artist, even in the busiest of times.

So, as I navigate the highs and lows of motherhood, I find solace and inspiration in the words and conversations that fill the airwaves. They remind me that creativity knows no bounds and that, with a little ingenuity and resourcefulness, I can continue to nurture my artistic spirit wherever life takes me.
